The Quest Begins

I don't know when the moment first struck me, but I want to get a Vespa. A 2007 LX 150 in "Daring Plum".
I can't put my finger on the reason either. I've wanted to get a motorcycle since I was a kid on the back of my father's Triumph 650.
Then I got married and all responsible. My kids were young and I was the sole breadwinner. If I were hurt because of my selfishness, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself. So I put it out of my mind for many years.
Well, now I'm a 50 year old Boomer and the kids are grown and gone. Two are married. My youngest son went to Southeast Asia on a mission trip and rode a small displacement motorcycle there and loved it. Maybe that's what started me thinking about bikes again.
I can't afford the Vespa at the moment, but I thought I'd start this blog anyway. I've got the support of my wife to get one. I've gone to the DMV and taken the test for my Learner's Permit and in California that means "no passengers, no freeways, no nighttime riding." I've signed up for the Basic Ridercourse at the California Motorcyclist Safety Program website and will take it in December. Hopefully soon I'll be riding the roads of Nevada County on my Vespa
